One person injured after third-floor fire in building on Elgin

One person was injured after a fire broke out in the third floor of a residential building.
Ottawa Fire Services received a notification from a monitoring agency that there was a fire in a building on Elgin Street, between Gladstone Avenue and McLeod Street.
They were also alerted by a 9-1-1 call that was made, that alerted fire crews to the blaze happening in the third floor, around 11 p.m., Sunday, June 19.
The smoke was substantial, and the fire spread to the cockloft and ceiling space.
One person was injured, and in the care of the Ottawa Paramedic Service, but their condition is not yet known.
The Canadian Red Cross and Salvation Army are assisting those who were affected.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
