Mayoral candidate Catherine McKenney has released their plan in support of the city's small business sector as well as entrepreneurs.
In a release, McKenney said they are aiming to create a vibrant and thriving city in hopes of building the economic development and services that Ottawa needs.
“Small businesses are the heart of our communities and the engine of the city's economy, yet they often struggle to thrive for many reasons, including the impact of the pandemic,” said McKenney in the release.
McKenney wants to help businesses thrive and ensuring main streets, plazas and town centres are supported through City of Ottawa policies as integral commercial hubs of communities.
McKenney also vows to extend the property tax discount for as many as 10,000 small businesses across the city and establish a dedicated liaison service for small businesses navigating resources and requirements.
They also plan on attracting major employers offering high-skilled, well-paying jobs, which they hope will foster the growth potential of entrepreneurial leaders.
Other initiatives that McKenney is bringing forward include stimulating the local food and agriculture economy as well as stimulating tourism through strategic initiatives all while building a vibrant city with robust municipal services.
