The pedestrian bridge at Mud Lake will be closed until the spring of 2023.
As part of a two-phase plan, the National Capital Commission (NCC) plans to improve the trail while providing a newer accessible bridge for residents in the Mud Lake Conservation area.
According to the NCC's website, the Mud Lake conservation area was affected by the floods in both 2017 and 2019, and they plan to rehabilitate a section of the trail on the southeast section of Mud Lake, which will start in the spring of 2023.

The NCC said the new bridge will be more resilient to floods in the future and there will be an improved trail section to support vegetation management efforts, which will also be universally accessible.
The project is part of the NCC’s major infrastructure projects from the government's $52.4-million investment from the 2020 federal budget.
