New tool for reporting collisions launches next month
Posted Oct 23, 2022 02:00:00 PM.
Starting next month, users of the Ottawa Police Service's (OPS) Collision Reporting Centres (CRC) will be able to use a newly developed tool to report collisions themselves.
The OPS is partnering with Accident Support Services International Limited (ASSI) to make the new technology and user-friendly tool available to residents.
Motorists involved in a collision with injuries and/or damages exceeding $2,000 are required to report the incident to police, according the Highway Traffic Act. But drivers involved in a minor vehicle collision without any injuries or the need for a police officer to responds must attend a CRC to self-report the collision.
The streamlined stand-alone kioks will be available in the lobby of the three police stations in the city where OPS CRC's are currently located and the kioks will be staffed by ASSI agents:
- 3343 St. Joseph Boulevard
- 474 Elgin Street, and
- 211 Huntmar Drive
The official launch date of the new tool and more details on the new CRC kioks will be released in the coming days.
Stay tuned for the official launch date in November and more details on the new CRC kiosks.
