Approximately 35,000 residents in the Aylmer area are under a boil water advisory.
The City of Gatineau issued a boil water advisory for Dec. 4 and said this is due to a mechanical malfunction at the drinking water plant that caused a depressurization of the water system.
The following areas are affected:
- South boulevard des Allumettières
- West of rue Atholl-Doune
- North of Rivière des Outaouais
- East of rue de la Lobo
Residents are asked to boil their water for at least one minute before using it until the City lifts the advisory.
After the preventive boil water advisory is lifted, it is recommended to open all cold water taps and let the water run for one minute or until it is cold, and the same goes for all water fountains.
It is also recommended to toss out any ice made with tap water during the advisory.
The advisory remains in effect until further notice.
