Camille Villeneuve gifts $5M to support research at uOttawa

By CityNews Ottawa

Camille Villeneuve, Outaouais real estate mogul and University of Ottawa (uOttawa) alum, has given his alma mater one of the largest individual gifts in the university's history.

The Multivesco president gave $5 million to uOttawa's reIMAGINE campaign to create new opportunities for students and researchers at the Faculty of Medicine and Telfer School of Management. Villeneuve has now given over $7 million to uOttawa.

“It's important that the person who makes the donation be as happy as the person who receives it. That's really the case for me. It makes me very happy,” stated Villeneuve.

The gift will support the learning experience of francophone students at the Telfer School of Management, fund two new research bursaries in the Francophone business space, and expand access to experiential learning opportunities including programs in mentorship, leadership and student business competitions.

The Faculty of Medicine will receive $3.5 million of the donation to help drive leading-edge research in the areas of brain health, cardiovascular health, infection, immunity and inflammation as well as epidemiology and public health.

“We are very grateful to Mr. Villeneuve for his continuous support,” stated Stephanie Brutus, dean of the Telfer School of Management. “Thanks to his transformational gift, the Telfer School can continue to provide our Francophone students with an excellent experience.”
