Major winter storm watch issued for Ottawa

On the afternoon of Wednesday, Dec. 21, Environment Canada issued a winter storm watch for Ottawa as the region braces for yet another major winter storm is set to roll in starting the evening of Thursday, Dec. 22.

Snow, heavy at times with amounts of up to 10 to 15 centimetres, is expected to begin Thursday evening, changing into rain by Friday morning.

The watch warns of freezing rain, a flash freeze Friday afternoon, and strong, potentially damaging, wind developing and continuing into Saturday.

Environment Canada is suggesting to avoid travel over the holiday weekend as visibility may be reduced and surfaces become icy.
