CHEO, OPH General Campus among longest wait times for first assessment by ER doctor in Ontario

An eastern Ontario hospital and two Ottawa area hospitals are showing the longest wait times for a first assessment from an emergency room (ER) doctor according to new data. 

In recently released data from Health Quality Ontario, the average wait time for a first assessment from an ER doctor at the Hawkesbury And District General Hospital was 4.1 hours in the month of November of 2022, while it took on average of 3.6 hours for a first assessment from an ER doctor at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario. It took 3.2 hours for a first assessment from an ER doctor at the General Campus of The Ottawa Hospital. 

On average across the province, patients wait two hours for a first assessment from an ER doctor.
