No injuries in Heron Gate air fryer fire

There are no injuries following a kitchen fire in Heron Gate.

Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded to a four-storey apartment building at 2865 Cedarwood Drive around 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25.

An occupant had called 9-1-1 to report their air fryer had caught fire and that flames had spread to the kitchen cabinets.

The caller was told to evacuate immediately and close the doors behind them.

Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes of being dispatched and arrived to find visible smoke coming from the ground floor.

A working fire was declared and firefighters evacuated several floors of the building.

The fire was under control within 20 minutes and contained to the kitchen area.

A fire investigator has been called in to determine the cause.
