It was a busy Wednesday for local fire crews.
Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded to four fires around the city, first responding to a one-storey single-family home in the 1000 block of Père Charlebois Avenue shortly after 10 a.m.
Firefighters had to be evacuated at one point due to dangerous conditions, including heavy smoke and near-zero visibility.
Suppression operations continued from outside until it was deemed safe to return inside.
The fire was brought under control within about 40 minutes and there were no injuries reported.
Then, around 11:25 a.m., firefighters responded to a highrise fire in the 400 block of Richmond Road.
A fire was located in a third floor bedroom and was knocked down within six minutes of crews arriving, before it could spread from the mattress where it started.
There were no injuries involved.
Firefighters were then called to a four-acre brush fire at Snake Island Road and Nixon Road around 3:15 p.m.
The fire was brought under control within 35 minutes and crews kept the flames from spreading to the roadway, as well as a nearby creek.
