Provincial by-election date announced for Kanata-Carleton

Voters in Kanata-Carleton will head to the polls next month to elect a new provincial representative.
A writ was issued on Wednesday, June 28 for a by-election in the west end riding. Election day is now set for July 27.
Merrilee Fullerton, the former member of provincial parliament (MPP) for the Kanata-Carleton riding announced her resignation in March of this year.
The seat has been vacant since Fullerton announced she was stepping down, and no reason was given.
She served as the minister of children, community and social services and the minister of long-term care.
Vying to replace Fullerton as the riding’s MPP are Sean Webster representing the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party, while former Kanata-Carleton Member of Parliament (MP) Karen McCrimmon was announced as the Liberal candidate.
Melissa Coenraad is representing the New Democratic Party (NDP) while Steven Warren is the Green Party candidate.
