City of Pembroke officials have announced that fireworks for Canada Day celebrations at Riverside Park have been postponed.
In a statement, the City said the fireworks for Canada Day have been postponed “until such time as fire hazard conditions improve and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry lift the Restricted Fire Zone designation for the Pembroke District.”
Pembroke is currently under a fire ban.
Meanwhile, Ottawa remains under a special weather statement due to low air quality. Canada Day fireworks celebrations in the capital’s downtown core are expected to go on as planned.
Please see the release from @CityPembroke regarding Canada Day fireworks. Thanks for your patience and understanding. The fire ban is still in effect for the Pembroke District. Due to this, the PFD will not be issuing any fireworks permits to residents.@PembrokeFFs pic.twitter.com/LGwhHje78H
