Police seeking information regarding gas cans possibly used in Centretown West fire

The Ottawa Police Service is asking for the public and business owners’ help in tracking down where a pair of gas cans that may have been used in last week’s fire in Centretown West.

Officers were called to the area of Booth Street at roughly 1 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, due to a working fire on Booth Street, north of Gladstone Avenue.

The fire claimed the life of 17-year-old Hussein Hamam of Ottawa.

The OPS is  asking for help with transactions in which someone might have bought two cans of gas on or before July 19, or seen someone filling up two jerry cans.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to the OPS Homicide Unit at 613-236-1222, extension 5493.
