Canada’s Chelsea Green making most of opportunities in WWE
Chelsea Green is making the most of her second stint in the WWE.
Since returning to the world’s biggest wrestling company at the Royal Rumble, the Vancouver, British Columbia, born WWE superstar has been establishing herself as a top talent in the last few months.
Just days before her 32nd birthday, Green competed in the women’s tag team showcase match at Wrestlemania’s night one, teaming up with Sonya Deville.

It was a moment she won’t soon forget, as it was the first time she wrestled at Wrestlemania and became the first B.C. born wrestler to compete in a singles or tag team match at the event since Surrey’s John Tenta – aka ‘Earthquake’ – in 1994 at Wrestlemania X.
“Whatever wrestling company you work for around the world, being part of Wrestlemania is just a dream,” she said in an interview with CityNews Ottawa. “It was surreal. It’s like being an NFL player and going to the Super Bowl. It’s like a being a hockey player and winning the Stanley Cup. That’s the pinnacle of wrestling. It was an absolute dream come true.”
Competing at Wrestlemania was just one of of the many moments Green is creating as a member of the WWE roster in the year 2023.
On the July 17 episode of Monday Night Raw, Green and Deville defeated Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships.
It was the first time Green has held a WWE title, a moment she called a culmination of a hard work since her wrestling journey began nine years ago.

Deville unfortunately suffered a significant knee injury that is keeping her out of action for the foreseeable future.
Green has been holding auditions to find a new tag team partner to carry the women’s tag titles alongside her.
It looks as though Green has found new partner, for now, in Piper Niven, who made her presence felt this past Monday Night on Raw, declaring to the world that she was Green’s new partner.
“I left my family and friends and moved to Florida and later travelling the world in the independent scene,” she said. “I had so many tryouts in WWE and breaking bones and everything, being a champion just makes it all worth it. Through all the ups and downs, in the end, I just want a long, and fulfilling career in WWE and this (holding a WWE title) has been the cherry on top.”
The WWE is on a recent tour across Canada, having been live in cities like Calgary for Smackdown and Winnipeg for Raw.

Green said loves performing in Canada for the passionate wrestling fans across the country.
Even though she’s competed on the grandest stage of them all in front of 80,000 people, and returned at the Royal Rumble, Green admitted she gets excited returning home to Canada to perform, but also, she still gets nervous when coming through the curtain when her music hits in a Canadian city.
“It’s just the feeling of wanting to make Canadians proud,” said Green. “It’s the feeling of coming home and performing in front of people I love.”
WWE returns to the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa on Aug. 19, and while she’s officially not scheduled to appear, Green said “never say never” when it comes to showing up in Ottawa.
After all, the capital of Canada holds a special place in Green’s heart, which takes her back to a time before she was a WWE superstar.

“I have a really soft spot for Ottawa because I actually won the Impact Knockout title in Ottawa in 2017,” she said.
Green competed in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling / Impact Wrestling from 2016-2018 after four years on the indie scene.
She first joined the WWE in 2018, but was released in 2021 and went on to re-join Impact until November of 2022.
