Firefighters respond to collision where one car found in ditch, other vehicle on its side on the road

Emergency crews responded to a two vehicle collision in Ottawa’s west end on Monday, Aug. 28.
Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) said the service received a call from the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) regarding a collision at Terry Fox Rd and Hope Side Road just after 10 a.m. Monday morning.
OFS said when crews arrived on the scene they found one vehicle in a ditch and the other vehicle on the road on its side.
The vehicle in the ditch had one person inside. Firefighters quickly stabilized the vehicle and began the extrication process.
Firefighters removed the side door using specialized tools and the occupant was safely extricated at 10:25. Firefighters spread absorbent on the leaking fluids and disconnected the car batteries prior to leaving the scene.
