Driver facing multiple charges; registers four times legal limit

A 52-year-old Ottawa resident is facing various impaired driving charges after registering four times the legal limit Tuesday morning.

Shortly before 5:00 a.m. on Dec. 31, OPP responded to reports of a single vehicle collision on the Hwy 417 off ramp at Riverside Dr. Officers reported noting an odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath. The driver was tested and transported to Ottawa Detachment for additional testing.

The driver’s blood alcohol level registered nearly four times the legal limit.

Prosper Nijimbere is facing the following charges:

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Novice Driver – B.A.C above Zero

The driver is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice in this month.
