Health unit urging regular well water testing

Local health officials are reminding homeowners on wells to get their water tested to make sure it hasn’t been contaminated with bacteria over the summer.
The Leeds Grenville Lanark District Health Unit says runoff from heavy summer rains could affect the safety of well water; bacteria may not affect the taste or smell of the water, and the health unit says testing your well water is the only way to know for sure if your drinking water is safe.
Well water testing is free for residents, and sample bottles can be picked up from the health unit at various locations around Leeds, Grenville and Lanark counties.
The Leeds Grenville Lanark District Health Unit recommends testing your well water at least three times per year.
After heavy rains in the latter part of summer, the Heath Unit recommends rural home owners have their well water tested for bacteria. Testing your drinking water is free and the only way to know if it’s safe to consume. More info here: https://t.co/tkL6aMC29C
