Senators treated to chorus of boos after loss to Lightning
Fans at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa were letting their voices be heard, expressing their unhappiness with the Senators by chasing them off the ice with a hail of boos after their loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night.
Following this result, the Senators have lost five in their last six games and have a 4-6-0 record so far on the year, good for last in the Atlantic Division. This was their fourth-straight loss at home.
Their 6-4 loss to the Lightning was also the third time in the last six games that they gave up five or more goals.

Whenever you don’t win it’s frustrating, and it’s frustrating the constant booing and (expletive) kind of from the crowd tonight was… I understand they’re a passionate fan base. I love it,” captain Brady Tkachuk told reporters after the game. “I know it’s frustrating but we’re not giving up out there. We’re fighting to the very end.”
Tampa Bay’s offensive onslaught forced coach D.J. Smith to pull starting goalie Joonas Korpisalo in the second period after he gave up three goals in 20 shots. Replacement Anton Forsberg wasn’t much better, conceding three more goals on 17 shots.
Off the ice, the Senators have been under the microscope of late following news about forward Shane Pinto receiving a 41-game suspension for gambling, and the team losing a future first-round pick for their role in the invalidated Evgenii Dadonov trade.
