The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and other police partners are pleading with members of the public to come forward with any information regarding two active missing persons cases in Smiths Falls.
Lawrence Bertrim, who would now be 43-years-old, was last seen on Sept. 30, 2022 at roughly 11 p.m. in downtown Smiths Falls.
The OPP announced that its Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) is now overseeing the investigation into the disappearance of a 34-year-old Robbie Thomson, who was reported missing on Oct. 19, 2023. Police believe he went missing between Oct. 12 and Oct 18.
Police said there are rumours, misinformation and disinformation being spread regarding the ongoing investigations.
“We continue to hear stories about disturbing details, but no one has come forward to investigators with any first-hand information,” said OPP detective inspectors Jennifer Patton and Daniel Levert. “Rumours are not evidence and cannot be used in court.”
Investigators have set up tip lines for each case:
For Robbie Thomson: 1-855-677-4636
For Lawrence Bertrim: 1-844-677-9404
