Man dead after hit-and-run in Gatineau

Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run Tuesday morning that left a pedestrian in his 40s dead in Gatineau’s east-end.

The Service de police de la Ville de Gatineau (SPVG) said they were called to the the intersection of Saint-René Boulevard West and Montée Paiement at around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday for reports of an injured person.

Police said they found an unconscious 40 year-old man who was quickly transported to hospital. He was later pronounced dead.

They said the victim was on foot at the time of the incident.

Montée Paiement was closed to northbound traffic between Saint-René Boulevard West and La Vérendrye Boulevard West for the investigation but has since re-opened.

Police have not released any information or description of the driver or vehicle they are searching for.
