Charges have been laid after a collision in Ottawa.

The Ottawa detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the single-vehicle crash on Highway 417 early this morning.

The 24-year-old G2 driver was found to be four times the legal limit and is now facing a charged of impaired driving.

The driver has also received a 90-day driving suspension.

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) also responded to the scene and helped to locate a number of passengers who had fled the scene following the collision.

Is this becoming a common occurrence?

Just last week on Dec. 15, 2023, another G2 driver was involved in a single vehicle crash.

The OPP charged the 23-year-old male driver with impaired driving. Police said he registered more than twice the legal blood alcohol limit in a breathalyzer test.

There were no reported injuries in that crash.
