Nepean resident cashes $50K lotto win

What would you do with an extra $50,000?

For Luc Tardif, the latest top prize winner of the instant 50K lotto ticket, the answer is some renovations on his home and maybe a vacation.

The 61-year old regular lotto player and business owner from Nepean was surprised he beat the odds this time when he picked up an instant 50K ticket at the Circle K on Robertson Road.

“I went to the store and used the ticket checker. When I saw $50,000 come up, I had to scan it again and count the zeroes,” Tardif said while at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) Centre in Toronto, Ont. to pick up his winning.

“I was pretty surprised to see the amount!”

He wasn’t as shocked as his daughter though, who thought he was playing a prank when he broke the news.

“I had to send her a photo of the validation slip,” Tardif said. “She was shocked and very happy.”

Each ticket retails at $50 and the odds of winning a prize is 1 in 3.68. The odds of winning the top prize is significantly lower.
