Ottawa crews quickly knock down fireplace blaze in west end home

There are no injuries reported following a fire in Ottawa’s west end.
Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded to a single-family home in the 1200 block of Fellows Road, between between Drury Lane and Westbury Road, shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 19.
A 9-1-1 caller had reported fire in the wall around the fireplace in the home.
Firefighters arrived within three minutes of being being dispatched and confirmed flames inside the walls.
OFS says firefighters advanced a hose line and began opening up the wall to extinguish the flames, while a secondary crew began searching the the structure for occupants.
Multiple people were found in separate rooms and advised by fire crews to quickly exit the home.
The fire was brought under control within about 20 minutes and the home was ventilated.
An Ottawa fire investigator has been dispatched to the scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
