OPP investigating apartment fire in township east of Ottawa

Everyone in an apartment building in a village east of the capital that was fully engulfed in flames Friday afternoon managed to escape harm.
The Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said they responded to an apartment building fire on County Road 17, just east of Longueuil Street in L’Orignal at about 12:45 p.m.
Police said all occupants and their animals were safely evacuated from the 9-unit building with the help of local fire crews.
No injuries were reported and they did not release information on how many people were displaced.
Country Road 17 was closed in both directions between Longueuil Street and John Street in L’Orignal for several hours, according to the OPP.
It has since re-opened.
