Lanark OPP seek help in murder, sexual assault investigations; believe there could be more victims  

The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is asking for help as it continues its investigations into a suspicious death and sexual assault.

On Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023, Rose Kerwin, 50, was found dead in the Mississippi River near the Village of Pakenham. Then on Tuesday, Nov. 13, officers received a report of a sexual assault in Carleton Place.

On Tuesday, Dec. 19, a man and woman were arrested and charged in connection with both investigations.

Marcel Lapensee, 56, of Carleton Place and Samantha Osborne, 23, or Iroquois, each face a charge of first-degree murder and sexual assault.

Investigators are concerned there could be more victims and are asking anyone who may have interacted with the accused to contact police.

Police say the accused used aliases on social media, which include Maxx POWER and Sammi.

The search also continues for Rose Kerwin’s vehicle, described as a blue 2013 Mazda GX four-door sedan with Ontario licence plate CSXW383.
