27-year-old charged with over a dozen firearm, drug offences

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) have charged a 27-year-old with numerous drug and firearm offences.

On Jan. 17, 2024, police were conducting a traffic stop around 5 p.m. near Cumberland and Murray streets near the ByWard Market.

OPS tell CityNews the driver was stopped for a Highway Traffic Act violation and was issued a notice.

During the traffic stop, ‘the driver was found to be in possession of narcotics and a firearm’, reads a post on social media by Ottawa police.

Ottawa’s guns and gangs unit charged the 27-year old with many firearm and drug-related offences.

OPS say the individual is facing 17 charges including:

OPS say the firearm and narcotics were seized and mentioned the narcotics are considered Schedule 1.

The individual is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 18, 2024.
