Frigid weekend on tap for Ottawa ahead of a slight warm up next week

Warmer temperatures are on the way for the nation’s capital.
We are looking at a frigid weekend, but starting on Sunday, temperatures will start to trend upward.
The forecast high for Friday, Jan. 19 is minus 14 C with a windchill of minus 24, though Environment Canada is calling for lots of sunshine.
The weather agency is calling for an overnight low of minus 18 C with a windchill near minus 25.
It will continue cold or Saturday with cloudy skies and a chance of flurries. The daytime high is minus 11 C, with the windchill sitting around minus 27 for the morning and minus 18 for the afternoon.
Sunday is looking sunny with a high minus 9 C and then the real turnaround comes on Monday when the temperature rises to minus 1 C.
Looking ahead into next week, it won’t be ‘warm,’ but it won’t be as bitterly cold as the last week has been.
The daytime highs will be between minus 1 C and minus 4 C, with overnight lows between minus 2 C and minus 7C.
For context, the average daytime high for this time of year is around minus 6.4 C.
