OPP charges Ottawa contractor with fraud after project stalls for months

Police charged an Ottawa contractor after a resident in a township southwest of the capital said they were defrauded.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said a resident from Beckwith Township paid a large advance to the contractor for a construction project back in November.

The person told investigators that the project stalled after undetermined issues got in the way.

After investigation the claims, police charged Shelby Mills, 30, of Stittsville, with fraud over $5,000 on Monday.

Mills is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on March 4.
