Ottawa camp counsellor charged with sexual assault

A woman who worked at an Ottawa-based summer camp program has been charged with sexual assault.

Ottawa police say it follows an investigation into incidents that occurred in summer 2023, involving a girl under the age of 12.

Ghadeer El-Haddad, 24, of Ottawa is charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, and assault.

Investigators with the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse (SACA) unit say El-Haddad worked as an Inclusion Counsellor with children with special needs, but have not released the name of the camp.

El-Haddad was scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

Police believe there could be more victims, and anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to Ottawa police.
