Firefighter injured in house fire in Ottawa’s south end

Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) says a firefighter sustained minor injuries following a fire in the city’s south end.

Crews responded to a 911 call from a two-storey home on Monet Court, in Blossom Park, at 9:08 a.m. Friday.

A parent and two children got out of the home safely before firefighters arrived.

OFS says smoke could be seen coming from the home, as well as open flames in the basement.

Crews brought the fire under control before 10 a.m., by bringing a water hose into the home, and contained the damage to the basement.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
