Police searching for suspect after Meadowlands Drive robbery

The Ottawa Police Service are requesting assistance in identifying a man in connection with an assault and theft that happened on an afternoon in late June.

On Friday, June 19, at around 3 p.m., a taxi driver was called to the 1100 block of Meadowlands Drive for a pick up. When the driver arrived, he was assaulted by an unknown male passenger before the suspect entered the taxi and stole cash. The suspect fled the area shortly after.

The suspect is described as a man in his late 20s to early 30s, approximately 190 to 200 lbs., with dark hair worn in a short ponytail and a short dark beard. During the indcident, he was wearing a white T-shirt, dark pants, and white Adidas running shoes. He was carrying a black backpack and a blue reusable shopping bag.
