Ottawa police ask for help identifying two people who lit Pride flag on fire

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) is asking for help identifying two suspects in a recent incident of hate-related mischief in Stittsville.

Around 1:10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, two people used a vehicle to pull down a flagpole in the 2000 block of Huntley Road, remove a Pride flag and then set it one fire.

Security images show the suspects taking pictures or filming the incident with a cell phone.

The suspects are described as two white males with slim builds.

They were wearing dark clothing at the time and the suspect vehicle is described as a dark, two-door sedan with an unknown Ontario license plate.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, has video surveillance recordings of the mischief occurring, or has any information that could help identify these suspects is asked to call the OPS Hate Crime Unit at 613-236-1222, extension 5015.
