Winterlude kicks off with a mild weekend

The weekend is expected to stay mild with some brief temperature dips in the evening and overnight.
Environment Canada forecasts a high of -2 C on Saturday for Ottawa with mostly cloudy skies. That drops down to -10 C overnight, with the wind chill making it feel more like -13 C overnight.
On Sunday, they forecast temperatures to go up to a high of -1 C with a mix of sun and cloud into a clear evening, low of -13 C.
Despite the Rideau Canal skateway remaining closed thanks to milder temperatures, there are plenty of things to do this year.
If you’re looking to get to the activities, OC Transpo is offering free Sno-Bus rides.
Activities include:
- The Snowflake Kingdom features snow sculptures and activities in the northern part of Jacques-Cartier Park.
- Sparks street with ice sculptures and outdoor performances.
- The ByWard Market will have activities, shows, an art installation and more.

This will be the festival’s 46th year, which takes place from Feb. 3 to Feb. 19, 2024.
