G2 driver caught for speeding, company vehicle impounded

A driver with a G2 license saw his company vehicle impounded after getting caught speeding on an Eastern Ontario highway this week.

Police say the driver was pulled over on westbound Highway 401 near Gananoque on Wednesday just before 5:30 p.m.

He was working at the time, making deliveries in a company vehicle.

The G2 driver was clocked by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) at 160 km/h in a 100 km/h zone while also on his cellphone.

The OPP have impounded the vehicle, which belongs to the company the driver is employed by. The driver’s license was also suspended for 30 days.

Along with possibly having to pay for the cost of the impoundment, the driver is facing the following charges in court:

  • Perform stunt
  • Hand held communication device
  • Fail to surrender licence

Police are using this opportunity to remind drivers to drive safe.
