Pair charged after attacking storage unit owner in Augusta Township: OPP

Police say two people are facing charges after a break-in at a storage unit facility in a township south of the capital on Tuesday.

OPP say shortly after 5 p.m. on Second Concession road, two people attacked the owner of the storage unit with pepper-spray after he noticed the door was open.

Provincial police alongside the Emergency Response Team and OPP Canine Unit arrested the two suspects nearby.

Peter Botting, 26, and Erica Currie, 33, were charged with:

  • Committing an indictable offense during a break and enter
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Possession of break-in instruments
  • Two counts of failure to comply with an undertaking

Botting is also facing charges of administering a noxious thing and three counts of failing to comply with a release order.

Police say both also have outstanding warrants from other police services.

They were held in custody, with bail hearings scheduled for Wednesday before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville.
