Ottawa police charge 20-year-old, clocked going over 80 km/h over speed limit

Ottawa police say they charged yet another driver with stunt driving in the southeast Orleans and Navan road area early on Monday.

Police say the driver was caught doing 168 km/h in a 80 km/h zone along Trim road.

OPS charged the 20-year-old driver with stunt driving, suspended their license for 30-days and impounded their vehicle for two weeks.

Over the weekend, Ottawa police have charged five people with stunt driving.

Police say driver speeds ranged from 50 to 70 km/h over the limit on Conroy, Heron, Hunt Club, Riverside and Sussex drive.

People charged with stunt driving can face a fine of $2,000 to $10,000, receive jail time and lose their licence for a minimum of one year if convicted.
