Person charged for being in Prescott home contrary to court order

A person from Edwardsburgh-Cardinal is facing charges after being found inside a home despite being under court ordered conditions not to be there.

Members of the Grenville County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a home on Park Street East in Prescott just before 3:30 p.m. on March 11, 2024.

Police say the resident of the home had safely left prior to police arriving and there was no risk to public safety during the incident.

The OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Canine Unit entered the home and found the accused hiding inside.

The 42-year-old is charged with failing to comply with a probation order.

The individual, who is not being named to protect the identity of the victim, also had outstanding warrants for failing to comply with other probation orders.

The accused was remanded in custody ahead of a bail hearing in Brockville on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.
