Caravan fire knocked down at Gatineau homeless encampment

Firefighters put out a trailer fire in Gatineau, Que early Monday morning.

In a news release, Emergency crews say that at around 5 a.m. they were called to the encampment close to Le Gîte Ami shelter at 85 Morin Street in Hull.

Firefighters say only a trailer was damaged and that no other tents or caravans were burned thanks to a quick intervention.

There were several propane tanks inside and just outside the caravan, according to the news release.

Two people were evacuated and no injuries were reported.

Gatineau police are now investigating.
