Man arrested and charged with child pornography possession and luring

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) have arrested and charged a man from Ottawa in an investigation with the Northern Alberta Internet Child Exploitation Unit (NAICE).

Police say 48-year-old Eric Cyr has been charged with possessing child pornography and luring.

On Tuesday Mar. 19, the OPS received information from the NAICE about a man from Ottawa attempting to lure an underage person from Alberta.

On Wednesday, Cyr was arrested by Ottawa police with the assistance of the Surveillance Unit, the South Neighbourhood Resource Team and Frontline Patrol officers.

Eric Cyr has been charged with the following:

  • Three counts of telecommunication with a person under the age of 18 for a specific criminal offence
  • Making sexually explicit material available to a child
  • Making child pornography
  • Unlawfully possessing child pornography

Cyr is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
