Student transport driver charged with sexual offences, police seeking other victims

An Ottawa student transport driver has been charged in connection with the sexual assault of someone under the age of 16-years-old.

Investigators with the Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse (SACA) Unit say the accused drove around vulnerable and special needs students for a Vanier-area high school.

Officers say on February 23rd, the suspect locked the doors of his van and drove away from a drop-off zone before the last student on board was able to get out.

He then allegedly forced the student to perform a sexual act.

Police say the student was able to leave, and immediately reported the incident to a teacher.

Mohamed Elbarkouky, 52, of Ottawa is charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, and invitation to sexual touching.

He is slated to appear in court Friday.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ottawa Police SACA unit, or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
