Ottawa firefighters pull trapped driver to safety following east end collision

Firefighters extricated a trapped driver after a two-vehicle collision in the east end over the weekend.

Around 10:26 a.m. on Sunday, April 14, Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded to the intersection of Ogilvie and Blair roads.

OFS says firefighters were on scene three minutes after being dispatched and confirmed the driver of one vehicle was trapped inside, with an infant in the back.

Firefighters quickly stabilized the vehicle before beginning the extrication process.

Specialized tools were used to remove the driver’s door of the vehicle and the driver was safely pulled by 10:50 a.m.

The infant was also safely removed from the vehicle and the scene was cleared at 11:06 p.m.
