Ottawa high school student dies after stabbing in Nepean

A 15-year-old student from Sir Guy Carleton Secondary School has succumbed to his injuries after a stabbing incident in Nepean last week.

The teen suffered life-threatening injuries after the incident on May 2 at the 100 block of Constellation Drive in Nepean.

The Ottawa Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) said in a statement that the Tragic Events Response Team is at the school.

“We continue to cooperate with the police on their investigation and we encourage everyone to refrain from engaging in speculation and rumours regarding the incident,” it reads.

Shortly after noon, the student was rushed to hospital after paramedics treated him for stab wounds. A “significant” police presence was in the area while the investigation continued.

On May 3, Ottawa Police Services (OPS) said they charged an 18-year-old male in relation to the incident. OCDSB said the 18-year-old is not a student at the school.

A few days later, police said the teen has died. The Homicide Unit of OPS has taken over the investigation.

The family of the victim has told OCDSB they are grateful for the support from the community.

” At this time of loss, they have requested privacy,” OCDSB said.
