Police asking for help identifying suspect in assault case

Police are hoping the public can help identify a suspect who was involved in an assault on May 3.

The Ottawa Police Service Central Criminal Investigation Section says that at 11:35 a.m. in the 700 block of Somerset Street West, a person and the victim had an interaction. The suspect, described as an Asian male about 40 years old, became “aggressive” and assaulted the victim.

The suspect then fled westbound on Somerset in a new model, white SUV.

Police say the victim sustained “serious” injuries.

The suspect is about 5’10” with a stocky build and short black hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a grey sweater, dark blue pants and sunglasses.
