Child in Cyrville apartment fire dies, man charged with first-degree murder: OPS

Police have upgraded the charges against the man accused of setting fire to a Cyrville apartment building to first-degree murder.
Ottawa police previously reported the building was in the Overbrook area.
The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) say that one of the victims, three-year-old Karima Moustapha, died of her injuries in hospital on Saturday.
Saeed Mohamed, 42, of Ottawa is charged with first degree murder, arson disregard for human life, two counts of arson causing bodily harm, and arson causing property damage.
He is scheduled to appear in court on May 15.
On May 2, at 6:05 a.m. in the 1200 block of Donald Street, a fire sent three to hospital in critical condition.
Firefighters rescued one adult and two children from a third-floor apartment. Six others were treated on scene and five others were transported to hospital with minor injuries including smoke inhalation.
The fire was declared under control just before 7 a.m.
