Police recover stolen RV on Hwy. 417, K9 unit catches runner

Early Sunday morning, officers noticed a stolen RV being towed down Highway 417.

According to the Ottawa Police Service (OPS), the truck towing the trailer took the Carling Avenue exit. Patrol officers stopped the vehicle and two people ran.

After a short chase, one person surrendered. The other was found in a dumpster by a K9 unit. No injuries or property were damaged.

Police said a 43-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man, both from Ottawa, have been charged with multiple offences including:

  • Breaking and entering
  • Theft over $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Resisting a peace officer

Additionally, the man was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police and possession of break and enter instruments.
