Ottawa crews quickly contain fire in Vanier apartment on Canada Day

There are no injuries reported after a late night fire in Vanier.

Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded a low-rise multi-unit dwelling in the 300 block of Levis Avenue just before 10:30 p.m. on Monday, July 1.

A 9-1-1 caller had reported seeing smoke in the hallway and crews arrived to find flames on the second floor.

There were several items found on fire in one of the units, which were taken outside.

The fire inside the unit was then quickly extinguished.

The fire was declared under control shortly after 11 p.m. and a fire investigator is now working to determine the cause.

The Canadian Red Cross and the Salvation Army are both assisting those affected by this incident.
