Road closures across Ottawa this summer from construction. Here’s what to avoid
Construction has ramped up during the summer months, with multiple impacts for commuters across Ottawa.
Several road closures are planned for the second and third weeks of July, potentially causing longer commutes for residents across the city. Some closures will be ongoing for several months whereas others are for a shorter period of time.
The following is a list of road closures starting this week and next in the Nation’s Capital — as well as upcoming and ongoing closures — based on the City of Ottawa website:

Road closures this week and next
- Intersection of Barnsdale Road and Rideau Valley Drive: Lane reductions and/or lane shifts are anticipated. Work is planned the week of July 15, and should take two to three days to complete.
- Hillcrest Avenue from Princeton Avenue to Byron Avenue: The roadway will be resurfaced between July 15 and August 9. Various lane reductions, alternating traffic and/or detours can be expected.
- Tremblay Road from Avenue U to St Laurent Boulevard: Tremblay Road will remain open to traffic with lane closures expected. Work started on July 15, with completion anticipated by fall 2024.
- Montcalm Street from Greenfield Avenue to the dead end and Concord Street North from Greenfield Avenue to Havelock Street: Full road closures, local access to Montcalm Street and Concord Street North will be maintained. Montcalm Street and Concord Street will be closed between July 22 and November 29, 2024.
- Old Innes Road from Bantree Street to 110m West of Bantree Street: Lane reductions, alternating traffic and/or detours can be expected. This work is scheduled to start July 17, to be complete by fall 2024.
Upcoming road closures
- Baseline Road from Zena Street to Farlane Boulevard: The road will remain open to traffic with lane closures expected. Work will begin the week of August 5 during evening and overnight hours.
