Three young people arrested for throwing rocks off Hwy. 416 overpass

Three people have been arrested after rocks were thrown from an overpass on Highway 416.

The Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports of rocks being thrown at cars on top of the old railway bridge, near Richmond Road, shortly before 8 p.m. on Monday.

One vehicle was struck and had significant damage to its windshield.

Three individuals ranging in age from 17-to-20-years-old were located and arrested by police.

The teen has been diverted in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, while the two adults have been charged with Mischief Under $5,000.

The two adults were released with a court date on September 6, 2024.
