Two charged after Lanark County OPP recover $150K in stolen property

A man from Quebec and a woman from Lanark Highlands are facing charges after the recovery of several vehicles, trailers, and lawn mowers.
The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a search warrant at a Lanark Highlands home on McDonalds Corners Road on Tuesday, Aug. 13, with help from the East Region Community Street Crime Unit and OPP Emergency Response Team.
While the OPP is still reviewing the items seized, the stolen property is believed to be valued at well over $150,000 and includes three vehicles, two trailers, two Kubota lawn mowers, and multiple tools.
As a result of the investigation, Claude Gobeil, 38, of Cantley, Que. faces the following charges:
- Possession of property obtained by crime (seven counts)
- Failure to comply with an undertaking
The same night as the search warrant, the 36-year-old woman, who has now been charged with seven counts of possession of property obtained by crime, turned herself in to police.
She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Perth court on Sept. 9.
Gobeil remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Perth on Aug. 16.
The investigation is continuing.
