Firefighters use thermal imaging to locate missing cat in walls of Orléans home
It’s the classic story of firefighters rescuing a stuck feline…except this time it wasn’t in a tree.
Firefighters from Ottawa’s Station 36 had their work cut out for them in the search for a missing cat this week.
Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) was called out to a home in the 1800 block of Thornecrest Street in Orléans on Thursday, Aug. 15, where the family cat had been missing for three days.

After 90 minutes of searching, it was discovered the cat had got into the ceiling three days earlier and fallen down a shaft.
With the use of a thermal imaging camera, crews determined the cat had become stuck at the bottom of the wall near the front door.
Firefighters safely extricated the feline and there are no injuries reported, though some minor drywall repairs are likely needed.
